Trees Knoxville is partnering with Good Citizens Cemetery to support the restoration and conservation of a historic Black cemetery in East Knoxville that is currently undergoing a long-term restoration effort. We invite you to take part in a meaningful community workday that centers care, intention, and learning.
Participants will help with invasive species removal, brush clearing, and basic tree care while learning about the ecological stewardship of the land and the cultural and historical significance of this important site. We are honored to welcome Mr. George Kemp, who will offer an introduction to the cemetery, its history, and its vital role in the past and present community of East Knoxville.
Trees Knoxville is grateful for the opportunity to support this work and the community members connected to this place. We look forward to a shared workday focused on care, respect, and what it means to steward land together.
